Why Do I Keep Having Obstructions?
Surgery is the primary cause of bowel obstruction; with each surgery, you become more likely to have another obstruction. Other adhesive causes include injury, infection, inflammation, endometriosis and radiation therapy.
Adhesions join structures with strong glue-like bonds that can totally close the bowel, and cause significant pain. The body has no way to naturally remove adhesions; once formed, they tend to remain in the body for life – a permanent straitjacket in the bowel, causing strictures and bowel obstructions.
